Here are a few simple things to consider before making that online purchase:
- When ordering online, make sure you have entered a "Secure Server"
before entering in your credit card number.
- The MS Explorer will show a "closed lock"
at the bottom of the browser when on a secure site and the Netscape
browser will show a "solid key" at the bottom.
- Before ordering a product, make sure the company you are ordering from is legitimate. Browse the rest of their
web site first and make sure they have a way of contacting them either through a telephone number, fax and/or a
physical address.
- Always remember what you ordered,
how much it was and who you ordered it from. Print out the online
and/or email "Order Confirmations" you receive when ordering and compare them to you credit card statement when you receive it.
By following these few simple rules, you can have a safe enjoyable experience shopping online.
